Aligning objects

Modify > Align can line up two or more selected items in a scene. Align can resize elements so that their horizontal or vertical dimensions are the same. Resized elements change to match the dimensions of the largest selected item. Align can also distribute elements so their centers, their left or top borders, or their right and bottom borders are evenly spaced. Use alignment options individually or in combination. The Align to Page option aligns elements to each other and to the Stage in one step.

When aligning several objects, Flash aligns them to the edges or center of the rectangle that encloses all the objects. It doesn't matter in what order you select the objects.
